Hi! I'm Tanya the owner of barre n9ne® studio and the creator of baby barre® and mom to two beautiful boys!
In March 2010 I opened barre n9ne® studio. Not long after I opened, I found out I was expecting my first child. I was obviously over the moon excited, but I was nervous as to how I would juggle teaching classes at my new studio and having a newborn. I tried to put this fear aside and was lucky enough to teach classes right up until my due date.
In early 2011 I gave birth to my first son. I loved my one on one time at home with him but I was eager to get back to teaching. Once I was cleared at my 6 week appointment I asked a few fellow mom friends who also just had babies if they wanted to meet me at the studio for a class with their cuties. I quickly realized that if I taught a class incorporating my son I could get in a great workout, chat with other new moms, and he would have a weekly "play date". A Win Win for both mom and baby!
After a fun first class, baby barre® was born! This instantly became something we all wanted to do each week and so did the babies!
My son loved the music and typically fell asleep in the carrier at the barre, giving me a mommy time out so to speak along with a great sweat sesh!
A little bit about the class!
baby barre® classes are ideal for babies 6 weeks-12 months, traditionally non-mobile babies who can fit in (and like to be in!) carriers. However we know how hard it is for moms to get in a workout so we do our best to accommodate new little movers!
baby barre® is an ideal way to rebalance your body and rejuvenate your energy by concentrating on specific postpartum areas that need extra attention while enjoying time with your baby and building social connections. Enhance your sense of body awareness and positive body image, improve balance, strengthen muscles and reduce stress and fatigue
Babies are gently and safely incorporated into the class. From "kiss ups" to airplane," this class is great for beginners and experienced exercisers. Nursing, feeding, walking, bouncing and crying are normal activities here!
Please bring a sling or baby carrier, a receiving blanket and your baby's favorite toy as well!
Our baby barre® classes are the most fun and safest way to workout post baby while spending quality bonding time together.
